Stargazer bent down to sniff the bloody rabbit body. She'd killed it only moments before, chasing after and bashing it to death. Now she studied her handiwork with a slight look of pleasure. Hunting down food was more fun than picking it off of plants. And while she did usually prefer to chew on greens, an occasional bit of meat was preferred. She lay down and started stripping it of fur, a low, happy rumble issueing from her throat.

Roshan watched an ewe as she hunted, not really noticing her. His thoughts had wandered, and his deep purple eyes stared blankly. As the scent of fresh blood reached his nose, he snapped back to reality, jumping to a fighting stance. If there was one thing he learned from being in a herd where fights where around every corner, it was to always be prepared.
Looking around, he realized the scent had just been coming from the rabbit that the ewe had killed. Noticing her for the first time, his eyes took in her sleek black figure, white mane, and little spots like stars in her coat. Roshan's eyes then looked towards the rabbit meat, and he realized he hadn't eaten in quite a while. Unconsiously walking towards the ewe, he realized what he was doing after it was too late. Sensing no immediate danger from the dark ewe, he decided to continue on rather than flee. {Oh, and for RP purposes, he isn't a Youngling xD Kama gave permission for him to be older, for any RP, unless I wanted him younger^.^}

For a while Stargazer didn't appear to notice Roshan. She continued to strip the fur off of her meal and toss it off to the side. *There, now it's clean.* She thought, shaking her head to rid her nose of any stray rabbit hairs. She licked her chops, bending down to begin eating. Her teeth grasped a chunk of flesh from the shoulder and she put one paw on it's body to hold it down while she tore off the meat. Blood splattered as it broke free, though it hardly shown on her black fur. She lifted her head and the meat to wolf it down, but movement in the corner of her eye distracted the ewe. She nearly choked, spitting it out and turned towards Roshan, her fur standing up. She examined the silver and violet male, tilting her head to the side curiously. "Hello." Stargazer dipped her head politely, wondering how the ram would react. She still remained suspicious though, that he might be trying to steal her food.

Chuckling softly, Roshan nodded in greeting. "Pleased to meet you. My name is Roshan." The ram flicked his eyes towards the rabbit, wanted her to see this movement. "I have no intentions on stealing your catch, no worries. Though I must say it was quite an amazing kill," Roshan nodded, reassuring her that he wasn't here just because of the food, and praising her all at once. He wasn't sure how this doe would act yet, for he barely had seen her before this day. Offering a slight smile to the ewe, Roshan waited for a reply.

Stargazer seemed to relax a little, though from time to time her tail would flick out as if swatting at flies. She supposed she should trust him, after all, they were in the same herd... And her sister trusted the ram who brought them to this herd... "Thank you." She glanced at her rabbit, it lay undisturbed on the ground, just a bit covered in dirt. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Roshan. My name is Stargazer." Something about formal greetings seemed to bother her, if you can trust anyone in any way at all, why talk to them as if they are an inanimte object? So she sat, quickly wolfed down the rabbit, and got on to asking a question. "So, Roshan. What brings you out into the forest? Since it is apparent that you're not hear to steal from peasants." She returned the smile, though hers hinted a sneer.

A peasant? Roshan pondered the fact that he never really realized who was who in the herd. The ranks hadn't been so set out in his old herd. He was surprised that Stargazer was a peasant, he found her kind of attractive... though he wasn't about to admit it to her. Answering, Roshan found himself telling the doe more than he had originally planned. She seemed not to be quick to trust, and for some reason, Roshan had an overwhelming urge to have her trust him. I can be your friend, he thought to himself. Out loud, he answered, "I came to see the stars. I love tham, so shiny. You know, that's what my name means. Shiny, or bright." A smile soon lit upon his face as he watched the doe for a reply.

*Stars* Once again reminded of the bright specks in the sky, Stargazer had to make a conscious effort not to look up. For now, she wanted to lose herself on the ground, and not become too closely associated with her name. "Hm..." She considered what Roshan was saying for a moment. He must say the truth, why would he lie? But then, why would he say so much to a female he barely knew, and one of lower rank at that? Stargazer found that she didn't mind, "I see. So you like the stars. They're brilliant aren't they?" She side stepped a little, glancing briefly behind the ram. "So far away, indeed shiny and bright, but also dangerous and unpredictable." Her back left hoof pawed at the ground nervously. It was true that she had a hard time trusting others, and it was also true that she had a hard time trusting the forest. Perhaps it was good that Roshan was there, after all, he was a soldier... Something moving in the shadows was spooking Stargazer, it could have been the wind, a harmless animal, or a predator. "So you look a the stars often? Alone?"

"I, ah... Well, yes, I do come out to look at the stars often, though I can hardly convince anyone to come with me. They find spending time looking at the stars silly. I think they are quite beautiful, though." Much like you, Roshan added silently. He didn't have the courage to say something so blunt, unlike his friend in his previous herd, who had more guts than Roshan could ever muster. Flicking an ear back subconsiously, the ram thought he heard movement, a slight rustling coming from the forest, but he dismissed it as a minimal threat, for now. "Dangerous and unpredicatable indeed, but beautiful all the same."

Stargazer seemed to loosen up a bit, she even let out a laugh. Her laugh, and similarly her fur, was like dark sparkling water, hard to describe in terms of sound, but some would say perhaps a dark kind of beauty. She shook out her white mane and eyed Roshan, he wasn't so bad, handsome, and bright minded to match. "Hmph." She smiled, "You're right. If what I said had any weight, I'd tell 'em all they needed to get their priorities streight. Sure, fighting is necessary and exciting, but where's the magic in that? I've heard that many of the best warroirs were not the strongest, but the wisest."

{ :c Sorry for the terribly late reply!} The musical laughter took the ram's breath away, but Roshan wasn't giong to admit how taken aback by Stargazer he was. Roshan regarded Stargazer for a moment, and considered her words once more. "That's a a very good point. I never really thought about how the leaders of battles where appointed, or who thought of the plans and strategies." The ram's deep purple eyes sparkled, thinking of how wise this doe was herself. He yet wondered why she was a peasant, and not a warrior. She was definitely smart enough, that he was certain of. And she didn't look bad either, quite a bit more attractive than most peasants. "It's a remarkable night, but it is getting a bit cold. Do you want to go back into camp?" Roshan tried his best to be polite, though he usually wasn't good around females. He tended to stutter, but he didn't want to make a fool of himself, and he didn't know how else he could ask to walk back to the campsite with Stargazer.

(That's okay, life happens!) Stargazer had to make a conscious effort not to let show her surprise. This soldier... He listened, he really did, and he thought too. "Yes." She said, nodding slowly after a minute, "It is getting cold." She blinked a bit absent mindedly, not having really noticed anything about the temperature, nor did she think of it now. Her fur was thick enough that she usually didn't mind the cold, but the suggestion, or was it more an invitation, was to her satisfaction. Stargazer shook her head to clear her thoughts, "Sure, I wouldn't mind going back. You're coming too, right?" She glanced around, her left front paw lifting slightly. She was a bit surprised by the hope that he was. She wasn't scared of the dark or the woods, her fur was dark enough, were she to see anything, keeping low should do the trick. Rather, she enjoyed his company more than expected. At first she would have said it was the bright color of his fur, but now she realized it was just his personality as a whole was light, or perhaps she should say 'shiny' hearted. Stargazer felt her usual mask of emotional concealment start to melt away, he made her feel happy, and she couldn't help but smile.

"I, well, I would walk with you back," Roshan began to stumble for words, taking in her dark beauty. The ram didn't want to take his eyes away from Stargazer, but he forced himself to look out to the forest. "What I meant to say is that if you would like, I'd be more than willing to escort you to camp." The words gave Roshan a lightness, and he took a chance and looked back into the doe's beautiful eyes. A soft grin came to his face when he realized he wasn't making a major fool of himself. His smile brought a softer shine to his eyes, already bright in contrast to the dark forest behind them.

Stargazer looked at Roshan cheerfully, her mouth widening even more into a toothy white grin. "Thank you Roshan, I'd like that very much." It had turned out to be a much better evening into night than she had expected, better than she could have hoped. The only thing that could make it better... "Shall we go?" She asked, determined not to let herself become distracted, not at night.

{XD Writer's Block is amazingly fun!} Nodding, the young ram turned and began to lead the doe towards the forest. "So, when did you join the herd?" Roshan asked, hoping to make a little conversation. He hoped Stargazer was the sort to talk, because he himself wasn't amazing at it, though if you got him started he could keep a conversation going. Roshan's light gray and deep purple coat gleemed in the moonlight, and he couldn't help but look at Stargazer's amazing pelt next to his. Bright stars against a purple and gray galaxy.

"Not too long ago actually. After the last Siv anyway." Stargazer glanced at Roshan and decided to continue, "My sister and I were just wondering along the mountains one day, that's how we found this place... Or rather, we were found tripping on rocks." The memory annoyed her slightly, "That Threonine fellow was the one who found us, he thought we needed saving. We're not really from the mountains and I suppose the terrain was strange at first, but that's why we ended up ranked as peasants. Not as if I couldn't put up a fight though." She snorted, lashing her tail.
But she kept walking, and calmed down quickly, "What about you? How'd you end up here?" She wondered silently if he'd mention the black and whitish colored doe she often saw him around.

Roshan nodded as he listened to her story, and a hint of laughter filled his eyes as he sensed her annoyance at one part of the story. "Well, I lived in a mountain herd since I was very little, along with my little sister," The ram began to tell his story, telling of how the vicious Prime of his herd had forced them to live in a flatland called the Barrens. "Anyways, I grew terribly tired of being in that herd. It was a horrible life, and it was made worse when the Prime killed my sister." His voice trailed off at the memory, but he continued soon. "The herd in the mountain territory that we were in battle with had a Prime, one who was smart and brave, and he had a daughter who liked to think if she risked her life all the time, he would come to his senses and let her have some fun. My herd captured her, and shortly after, Alaska and I met." Alaska was the blue-eyed doe with the black and white fur who was a fierce soldier for the herd. "We became friends, and eventually, we escaped. Here we ended up. Alaska's still like my older sister. I like to think someone wanted me to have a sister again, and they gave me Alaska." At his last thought, Roshan smiled and looked at the doe next to him.

As the walked along Stargazer listened to Roshan, and felt her ears instinctively flatten against her head at the things he said. "I'm sorry about your sister." Now that she looked more closely, he was young. A soldier, but a young one, and she felt sorry for him.
They were lucky, she realized, to live in a herd with a Prime who wouldn't think of hurting his herd. A herd that had been at peace for a very long time as well. The last thing he seemed to make the most impact, and her eyes softened, "Yeah." Was her only responce. "Maybe so."

Realizing he had probably consideringly saddened the mood, Roshan decided to make things happier. Shaking out his fluffy mane, he pranced on the tips of his hooves and paws, eyes shining. The aura of brightness that seemed to follow him everywhere considerable brightened. Hoping he wasn't going too far, the ram gently poked Stargazer in the side with his nose. "Race you to the forest? The clearing with the fallen trees?" The question hung in the air as he looked at the young doe, couriosity flooding him. He wanted to know if this female he had began to fall for had a sense of playfulness.

Stargazer seemed to consider Roshan's idea for a moment, it was the perfect excuse lighten the mood. Under normal circumstances she would have spat a no and added in an insult. But... She couldn't do it. Not only could she not think of an insult, she didn't want to say no. Why not race? It might be fun. Fun, wasn't that the reason she'd agreed to come in the first place? In hopes of leaving behind a life of bore in exchange for something more exciting, that thing she'd forever longed for, a bit of fun? Yes, yes it was. "Loser has to eat a clod of dirt!" Without waiting for a responce she made a dash for it, throwing her head back playfully and shaking her mane as she ran.

"Fair enough for- Hey!" Roshan had been replying when Stargazer took off, and he dashed after her, trying to catch up. His eyes gleamed and he laughed playfully. He was so glad Stargazer had said yes, for he hoped that meant he had broken down some of her barriers. If he were to be her friend, or more, he had to get to know her. And for a moment, after Roshan had asked the question, he chatsised himself, believing the doe would reject him and walk away. With a burst of speed, the ram was alongside Stargazer, running to not fall behind again.
