"Woooooooooo!" came the loud voice of a young kid that was sliding down the hill, looking like if he were about to fall down to certain death. Despite his young age, the small, feathered male showed a good, muscular body, his amber eyes brimmed with adventure, and his voice rang as if he wished for the world to hear.
As he approached the ledge, the gray kid suddenly sprang, his body flipping as he landed on a pile of snow. Only his small, navy blue horns poked through the pile, and his head burst out as he jumped out, his pelt soaked from the snow. "Ew... this is going to take forever to dry out..." he complained. At this, he proceeded to run around in circles, prancing and whooping as he did so, almost like a stag showing off to some fancy doe.
Sam, one of the herd's kids, was a hyper one alright. The young one could not stay still, not for a second. He loved poking his nose inside everything, making as much noise as he could, and playing pranks on the others. Suddenly, his eyes narrowed as he thought of what his next prank would be. I bet Devi would love to throw himself from that cliff if I dared him. And he hates being wet as much as I do. A wicked grin crossed the kid's face as he shook one last time then headed running towards where the herd was gathered, looking for his friend and prankster associate, Dervasi.

Devarsi sat by his mother's feet looking very annoyed. He wanted to go and find Sam so he could play, but his mother had forbidden him from being alone even if he didn't intend to be alone. "Would you like something to eat sweety?" She asked lovingly. Devi Pouted ad glared at her, refusing to satisfy her with an answer. He hated being held here and he hated when she called him 'sweety'. "Come on now hun, you must be hungry by now" It was true, he was hungry, but he was too stubborn to admit it. He'd eat when she apologized or made it up to him. She gave up and went back to eating. Devi got up and turned away, lying down facing away from his mother. He flopped onto his side and stared up into the sky. He was totally and completely bored.

Already dry from his run to the herd, Sam saw the group gathered, grazing in the cold winter air. The snow was starting to get less bothersome for Sam now, with his extra fur growing by his hooves, and a small tuff barely starting to show beneath his chin. He noticed that none of the other kids had grown this fur yet, except for Devi.
As his eyes scanned the herd, he quickly saw a black figure flopped to the side, his lighter amber eyes looking up at the sky. "Devi!" Sam yelled, prancing towards him, his boundless energy not allowing him to simply walk up to his friend, and he bumped into every possible boy he could find, hearing grunts and 'watch its' from the rest of them. Hehe was all that crossed his mind, knowing the older ones hated being poked by his growing horns. "DeviDeviDevi! I just saw the most amazing- You have to check it out!" he said, getting to him and dancing on his paws, almost too excited to stay in place.

At the sound of his name, his ears perked up and he swung his head towards the approaching kid. A grin spread from ear to ear as he saw his friend bounding towards him, bothering the adults as he went. 'So like Sam.' he laughed to himself. 'Even when he's not set on playing pranks, he bothers them.' He jumped to his feet. "Sam! Where have you been all day!? I'm so bored!" He called. Ignoring his mother's disapproving look at his hollered conversation. He whipped around to face his mother. "Mama, can I go play with Sam now? I won't be alone at all, I promise!" He waggled his longer-than-average tail. She was such a sucker for his wagging tail and puppy-dog eyes. She thought for a moment, obviously conflicted, then nodded. Devi was ecstatic. "Thank you mama! I'll be back before it gets dark, I promise!" With that he bounded off towards Sam.

Sam almost jumped in happiness, and he trotted off, going back and forth, catching up to Devi and then going up front again. "Your momma sure keeps you close by, don't she?" Sam asked, no bad inquiry in his voice. "Well, guess what I just found? You remember that large cliff nearby? It got full of snow, and it makes the best slide ever," he continued, not waiting for Devi to answer. "You have to climb all the way to the top to get the right momentum though," he said, prancing proudly. "I already tried it, and it was awesome!" he added, knowing this would rile Devi up.

Devi's grin was so wide it seemed about to ride up into his ears as he listened to Sam. This spring snow was an excellent tool in play. It meant that they could play as rough as they wanted without worrying as much about getting hurt. Although it did mean he'd get wet. Small price to pay for such fun, but he didn't like water much. "Wow! That sounds so cool!" He was getting more excited with each step. His gangly kid's legs nearly tripping over themselves as he pranced beside Sam. "Is the snow all piled up on top so the hill is even taller too!?"

Sam bounded onwards and back and he nodded with a pleased look at Devi. "It is it is. And you run down and you swoon over and if you jump just right, you get to make a perfect landing. Like when the Prime fought off that enemy stag recently, that he jumped and landed awesomely. Well that, but cooler!" he rambled. Even though it was all part of soaking Devi, part of him was being honest, as he did consider that flying feeling he had when he jumped one of the coolest things ever.
Looking up, he realized that they were close to the hill already. "Look look. It is there!" he squealed, then headed towards the snow covered hill, looking back at Devi. "Last one there gets trampled by a bear!"
