With a groan, the young buck stretched out along the ground and rested his chin on his forelegs.
For a minute, his eyes remained closed. He knew when he finally brought himself to open them, the world would be as bleak and black as it had been brilliant and colored seconds before. A faint sigh breathed out of his mouth; he finally opened his eyes and flicked his ears forward, listening to the turmoil of the winter birds that flocked in the snaking branches.
Unfolding his front legs out from under him, Merc slowly stood and shook the thin layer of snow that coated his flanks and back. If he focused, he could still barely remember the conversation Delirium and he had shared; and the touch they'd shared after that.
A sprinkle of sound from a small distance away from him brought his chin up. He blinked, wishing he had sight, and curiously wondered who was approaching. Merc didn't have very much interaction with the herd; he had caught on extremely quickly that most of the maternal does felt bad for him and the bucks overlooked him. It was probably just a stranger passing; if they even knew his name, he'd be surprised.

Takuo laughed as one of the last leaves of fall blew across the valley, swirling and twisting in the air, before it began to float lazily back to the ground. His eyes narrowed, T crouched to the ground, a grin on his face. He swished his feathery black tail and slowly crept forward, as if he was pursuing prey. Tensing his legs, he tracked the crisp, brown leaf, its frayed edges whistling slightly in the low breeze, being sure to stay low and...undetected to his target. Which, was extraordinarily easy, considering it was...well, a leaf. Eyes shining, he wriggled closer to the ground which was still dusted with a fine layer of snow, then with an exuberant bound, leaped forward, ears perked, and flattened it with his front paws. "Gotcha!" He cried, his striking golden eyes shining with triumph. He laughed, then lifted his paw, and watched the gentle breeze send it into the air once more, tumbling and swirling. The little tan goey was having alot of fun. There weren't many kids in the herd, and wouldn't be for a little while, yet, so he had gone off to explore for a short time to entertain himself (which wasn't considerably hard to do, being the cheerful, mischeivous kid that he was), and he had abandoned his exploration to chase after one of autumn's last leaves, which he had spotted when he was about to attempt scrambling up onto the top of a moderately-sized pile of boulders.
Just when he was considering chasing after it, or another leaf once more, his ears perked, and he heard a stir behind him. His golden eyes twinkling with curiousity, T whipped around, tilting his head, his front paw in mid-step. "Huh?" he murmured, spotting a ball of blonde fur not far from where he was standing. Takuo squinted, and took a step forward, prepared to investigate, then realized the shape was indeed another kid; one he had seen around the herd a few times before, but never got a chance to talk to. "Hey!" he called, bounding over, his paws and hooves leaving a slight imprint in the snow as he leapt through it. "I'm T!" he greeted, grinning, his eyes bright and friendly like always.

Oh great.
Another groan dropped out of Merc's mouth like a weight; as soon as he felt the shifting of snow from a prancing kid's footsteps, he tried to lower himself further against the ground and avoid exposure.
He heard the words being called out, knew in his head that the fellow child could see him; and huffed out a breath, lifting his head up to lazily blink his helpless eyes. He recognized the tone; it was the optimistic little T in the herd, a very vibrant male with a personality that matched his ridiculously energetic voice.
"Hello, T." He drawled out, and his words were slow and relaxed. He was hoping if he didn't pose much interest the kid would just leave. "The name's Merc." He added after a moment, remembering briefly the lesson Alabaster had implanted in his head; always be polite to even the most irritating.

T paused, lowering his raised paw, and pricked his ears as the other kid spoke, his voice seeming drawled out and somewhat frosty. He disregarded the blonde kid's tone, however, and replied with as much enthusiasm as when he first spoke. "'Sup, Merc," he said, his striking amber eyes shining, somewhat amused. He flicked his ears as a few feathery snowflakes, late from the previous night's storm, landed on his pelt, and he felt a tingling sensation as they melted and tickled his fur. "So, what are you doing?" He asked, swishing his tail. "I mean, the sun is way high in the sky! And there's snow," he added, putting emphasis on the last word he spoke, giving a little bounce as he did so; feeling his fur quiver with excitement.
The young tan kid loved snow; it was one of his favorite things. He loved the slight chill in the air; the breathtaking snowcaps on the purpleish mountains all around, and the soft, feathery feeling of the intricate flakes on his fur. And, not to mention all of the fun things that snow brought with it--racing through the shallow drifts, sliding along on the slick ice, playfighting and wrestling with the other kids...or willing soldiers, such as Kaze, and having a complete blast.

He quirked his head at the bright ram and yawned again, slowly unfolding his forelegs from underneath him and straightening. A quick shake made the thin layer of snow that coated him drift lazily to the ground.
"Well, I was sleeping." He commented, bringing one ear forward to focus in on the other kid. "I don't particularly like snow." After listening to T's expressive sentence, he lazily grinned and shook his head. "At least nothing like you apparently do."
In truth, Merc had only once dreamed of snow; and he could not bring himself to create enough imagination to bring it back again. Delirium had tried to before, but it was not quite the same as to when the dreamer themselves introduces an element. As much as Merc would be loathe to admit it, he was kind of envious of his fellow ram; at least the youngster could see the snow. Merc had overheard some does commenting on how beautiful it was when the sun caught the flakes and reflected, and it was a sight he would never see.
After a moment, he turned his attention back to T. "What are you doing out here?" He quizzed, honestly curious. Not many wandered this far from the herd when winter had dug in its claws this deep; he absently wondered if T had come to find something specific, or had merely been too distracted by snowbanks to remember he had to eventually go back.

{{Sorry for the insanely late response! D:}}
"You...you don't like snow?" Takuo echoed, striking golden eyes wide with wonder; his mouth gaping in shock. "But...it's so awesome!" As if to demonstrate, he gave a little bounce, sending tiny flakes of snow whirling into the air. He couldn't imagine having a dislike for snow; not only was it breathtaking when it capped the mountainsides surrounding the valley, it was also one of his favorite things, from skidding, sliding, and, well, slipping across patches of slick, frozen ice, to leap through the crystally drifts with cries of joy. He grinned as the other kid spoke, then shrugged, flicking his ears with a grin.
He laughed as a feathery flake alighted on his nose, and shook ihs head vigorously to rid it; the splashes of crystally white floating lazily back down once more. Perking his ears, he looked up again as Merc spoke, his golden eyes sparked with curiousity. "Oh, well..." Takuo began, absentmindedly pawing at the cool snow that dusted the ground, swishing his ebony tail. "Just exploring, I guess!" he answered with a grin, abandoning his snow doodles. "I mean, really..." T said, a glint of laughter twinkling in his eyes, "It's not like there are loads and loads of other kids to hang out with! I mean, besides you and Svartur, there's like...nobody to play with." He flicked his ears with a somewhat exagerrated sigh, though his words were true. "Besides," he added, "It's fun! Don't you like exploring?"
He hadn't enjoyed the Siv much, apart from the very beginning when the air was crackling with excitement, and rams challenged eachother, sparring with horns clashing. But...after awhile, it just seemed the same, and he hadn't been able to go explore much, or play with other kids (mostly because there were very few), and most other goeys seemed preoccupied with the routines of Siv. He was honestly very, very glad that it was over, and even more excited for the snow!
"Hey, what about you?" T asked, putting emphasis on the last word. He glanced down at the snowy ground, focusing on an icy leaf that had been buried beneath the snow, slick with frost, "I barely ever see you around, this is the first time in pretty much ever! Okay, maybe not ever, I guess I've seen you before, but not really! I mean it's not exactly like I've never ever in my entire life seen you, but I mean...what are you doing all the way out here?" The tan kid asked, then paused and lifted his paw, watching the leaf that had been beneath it twisti in the wind for a moment, before it was sent spiraling across the snow-covered ground, by the wind, and floated gracefully downwards once more.

My God.
Now he remembered why he always tried to stay away from the other Goennecs.
Snorting, Merc stretched out his forelegs and shook his head. "Your hyper attitude confounds me, T. You seem very... young." A faint smirk crossed his muzzle and he straightened back up, pleased by the warmth rushing back into his muscles from using them.
He turned his head to look at the kid and pretended, for a moment in this conversation, that he could actually see. Sometimes he could direct his face enough that he would look straight at the other; or sometimes he ended up looking inches away and just appearing to be slightly crazy.
"Yes, I like exploring." He went directly to the first question, flicking his tail without hesitation in his response. Merc did have a soft spot for exploration, as much as he would never really admit it.
He moved on to the next inquiry the spitfire had trilled off at him. "And you've seen me plenty of times before, I'm certain; I just like to be off on my own, particularly with all the pregnant does bumbling around." He commented casually, grinning. "It's safer to just get out of their way completely."

"And you seem...pretty old, for a kid." T shot back, a tease in his voice. He flicked his ears, though a glint of a grin was shining in his golden eyes, and a hint of a laugh could be detected in his voice. Breathing out an exagerated sigh, Takuo leapt up, sending feathery snowflakes shooting into the air, before slowly alighting back down on the ground. "Well, that's a relief!" He said, grinning with an exuberant swich of his tail.
T nodded, flicking his ears. "Yeah," he began, opening his mouth as if to speak once more, then paused as the other kid finished speaking, and he grinned, a twinkle shining in his eyes. "I totally get what you mean," he laughed, recalling how restless he had gotten with the end of the Siv, with hardly any other kids to play with or even talk to; most rams keeping their attention focused on their harem does, almost never stopping to even have a short chat or otherwise. The does had stayed in their harems, most staying close to their rams or other members, and he had, for nearly the first time in his life, almost felt...bored.
