Watching Kaze for his reaction to the intteruption by Roshan, Alaska began to smile again when he didn't know what to say. Turning back to look at the ram that was like a younger brother to her, Alaska's expression slowly changed from happiness to a mixture of curiousity and a small frown. "Roshan, who is this?" she asked, lookign over the doe that had followed him. She knew it to be Stargazer, the sister to Milky Way, but why she was hanging around Roshan made Alaska start to wonder. And then, when it dawned on her, the doe's face softened. She didn't want to scare Roshan's mate too badly. "Ahh, I see that you must be Roshan's mate? I am a bit surprised he should mate so early, but it is life." Roshan was concerned when Alaska began assesing Stargazer, and he moved protectively in front of her. But when he saw a small smile on her face, he listened to what she had to say. Heat flooded the ram's cheeks, and he hastily replied, "She's not my mate. We aren't... well, I'm not... well... She's in my harem. Glad he had managed to get that out, the ram turned, slightly embarassed, to see Stargazer's reaction.

(Sorry for the short post!)
At first, Stargazer looked at the other two wearily. But as the conversation continued she relaxed visably, and dipped her head politely, clearly amused by the situation. As of yet, she only knew of one mated pair in the herd, but it wouldn't surprise her if there were more. Some of the older Goennecs might have mates. She wondered briefly if Forest had ever had a mate. "Roshan is right." She agreed, "And I'm assuming the situation is the same?" She nodded towards Kaze.

Aiden stood silently on the scent border that marked the border of the hostile territory. He could easily recognize the foul scent of the brutish male he had encountered earlier, it was obvious that he was the prime. Being on highground, he was able to overlook the plains below whrer he observed the hostile herd milling around. It was obviously still the siv, small groups had formed and some walked in pairs. The wind came towards him and ruffled his fur with a chill, he managed to catch the scent of some of the herdmembers and decided to go closer, though still being very carefull.
On the way down he came across a nice bundle of bear dung, the smell was disgusting but still rather homey to him in an odd way. Suddenly he got an idea, lying down next to the dump, he roled himself in the disgusting smell, hoping it would mask his scent while he slowly crept closer, making sure to keep far out of view.

Kaze perked his ears for a moment, while he listened to the ebony doe speak, then nodded at her question. "That's right," he replied, his emerald eyes shining with happiness, and smiled. He felt warm with happiness; when he was around the creamy white doe, she made him feel even more bubbly and friendly than he already was...and that was saying something. Kaze was one of the most friendliest, outgoing rams in the herd, willing to be kind to almost anyone. But Alaska was special, for sure; he felt like they could be great friends, even after the Siv. A light breeze blew through the clearing, rustling the still-green leaves on the trees, and stirring the moss on the forest floor all around them. The wind blew Kaze's silvery mane into his eyes, and with a slight laughhe shook his head slightly; his ivory mane falling somewhat back into place. It was a wonderful day, and it felt perfect; hanging out with Alaska, and meeting two goeys he had seen, but not really spoken much too before. His spirits were high, and his emerald eyes shining.

Sorry for the delay guys. >> Also, I couldn't help myself and decided to keep Native Dancer who was returned recently. She'll be joining us shortly. C:
Murr, I'm not sure how to finish the Devi/Blossom section so we'll just assume it went well as planned. XD
~~~Time Skip~~~
Devi sat beneath his favorite tree. He was feeling full after just having eaten his morning meal. The siv had ended only a short few weeks ago and most harems were still together, ensuring that there would be new kids during the upcoming Spring. The temperature had been steadily dropping since before the siv had even begun and today, the first light snow had fallen, despite it still being a bit early for the valley. The mountains around them were topped with their white caps and he admired them as he did every season.
As far as he knew, he was expecting three kids this year and he was still trying his best to provide for his does. Life had been good and he wasn't expecting a change any time soon. He shifted slightly and settled in for a watch.
(Forest and Lu Ten) Forest and Lu Ten had grown close in the short time the stranger had been in the herd. They'd spent every day together sharing stories of their youth and Forest was still helping Lu Ten become familiar with the rest of the herd.
"Ah...ah...achoo!" Takuo wrinkled his nose as a feathery snowflake drifted down onto his muzzle, a sprout of feathery grass, which stood bravely above the dusting of snow, tickling his ear. Gaping his mouth in a yawn, he stretched his front paws forward, blinking open his striking golden eyes, still sticky with sleep. Fighting back another yawn, he gazed around at the rest of the herd around him, flicking his silky black tail back and forth among the blades of grass, dusted with snow, his eyes shining with excitement, now that he was...mostly...awake. He scrambled up from where he was laying in the flattened grass, his fur dusted with a thin layer of snow. He gave a vigorous shake, giggling as he sent a flurry of powder spiraling down from his short, yet fluffy, pelt. Alert and awake, T bounced from paw-to-paw, and hoof-to-hoof. He was eager to explore and have fun; the sun seeming to wait impatiently as it rose up, revealing itself above the rim of the valley. Siv had ended a few weeks before, something Takuo wasn't really going to miss. So far, it had been pretty boring for him...the herd had very few kids beside himself, and most of the time rams spent bustling around, guarding and taking care of the does in their harems, leaving little time to playfight or explore with a kid. He raised his front paw, as if to take a step, then paused, trying to decide what to do, and where to go, a stream of ideas rushing through his head. To him, every day was a new adventure, the problem was deciding just what to do! Hmm...should I go see Forest, or Lu Ten, or Sam, or Kaze, or climb the boulders, or explore in the forest, or try to find Svartur....
There seemed like endless possiblities, and T was eager to get started; he felt as if he had endless energy...which, he probably did. Not to mention, the snow made everything seem crisper and new, and gave him a jolt of excitement, his tail quivering as he stared at the snowcaps all around the rim of the valley. The young goennec bounded forwards, taking in the valley around him, feeling his fur pulse with excitement. "Wahoo!" he shouted, the noise startling a few crows who had been perching in a nearby oak, who took off, cawing. With an exuberant bound, he leapt into the air, tripped, and tumbled ears over tail down the rise, and landed with a thud in a patch of newly-fallen snow, dusting his fur with a white powder. He burst out into laughter, giggling and scrambling upwards, bucking and jumping through the snow. Out of breath from laughing so hard, he jumped onto a small slab of stone, and looked around, filled with excitement; a thin cloud of mist rising from him as he laughed. I guess I'll go see Forest! he decided, a spring in his step. He loved visiting the kind elder; he always had fun carrying out tasks, challenges, or thinking out riddles that the creamy brown doe gave him. With an excited skip, he bounded up the rise once more, and leapt across the feathery grass, feeling as if he had wings on his paws and hooves. "Hi Kaze! Hi Alaska! Hey Sam!" He called out, greeting almost every goennec he saw. He skidded to a halt beneath a single, sturdy-looking oak, stripped bare of leaves, and glanced around, looking for the elder.
Instead, he spotted the Prime, his ebony and crimson fur sticking out among the snow like a cardinal against the sky. "Have you seen Forest?" He called out, bounding over, but still staying at a respectful distance from Devarsi, his outgoing nature outweighing the somewhat intimidating look of the ram. His golden eyes were glowing with excitement, and he eagerly added, "I wanted to find her. I bet there's loads of fun stuff to do, especially since everywhere's all snowy now and stuff! I just woke up and it was everywhere! I hope there's lots more, I mean lots and lots and lots!" He ended his trail of comments with a little bounce, his eyes shining.
{{ XD; Sorry, it's kind of longish, I couldn't come up with an introduction for awhile. And...sorry if the color is blinding, I'll change if needed~ And I'll post for Kaze after Alaska does. c:}}
Yawning, Alaska's grey and white form stretched, the early morning sun far above in the sky. She blinked, her ice-blue eyes the only thing about her that stood out from the snowy field around her. Slowly standing up, she wondered how it would feel to get up and walk around when her baby bump was much larger. Currently, the doe's belly had barely swelled larger then it's usual size; one wouldn't be able to tell that she was pregnant unless they looked very closely. Shaking out the flakes of snow that had fallen on her thick coat, the doe noticed that Kaze was lying next to the Alaska-sized mark where the snow had melted partially under her body heat. She smiled softly, poking the ram with her nose. "Good morning, sleepy-head!" Just then, Takuo skipped past, being his usual cheerful self. Alaska laughed, calling out, "Nice to see you too, fuzzball!" T reminded Alaska a lot of Kaze, so happy and full of energy. It was hard to imagine that anyone, including Alaska, could feel anything short of friendly when they saw the youngling.
Devi's ears swiveled first towards kid as his gaze lingered just a bit longer on the mountain peaks. Then he turned his head calmly towards him. He smiled, amused at his enthusiasm. "Let's not hope for too much snow, or you'll disappear below it." His smile streatched into a teasin grin. "You'll have to spend the winter in a snow tunnel, all by yourself." He stood and shook a bit of clinging snow from his fur. "Us full grown goennecs may accidentally step on you if you aren't careful."
"Wha..." Kaze stirred when Alaska nudged him, then yawned, blinking open his emerald eyes, and stretching his front legs. He scrambled up, laughing slightly as the imprint he had made against the snow the night before. After the night's snowfall, a layer of icy snow had accumulated on his rime-grey pelt, and he shook it off, grinning. "Sleepyhead? Me?" He said, feigning surprise. "No way! I'm perfectly...awake..." He contradicted his words with a yawn, then shivered slightly. "Brrr.." He murmured, then flipped his tail, shaking off the stubborn clumps of snow that still clung to his icy-white mane. It did, in fact, look like he had a line of unmoving snow, his mane, against his darker grey fur, and he grinned. "What's up, T?" He laughed, as the ever-bouncing kid bounded past. His emerald eyes shone with amusement; the kid was alot like him in a way, and he thought of him somewhat like a little brother. His eyes bright, he turned to the creamy-white doe, her shimmering pelt looking like snow. "How are you?" He asked, grinning. Siv had passed a few weeks before, and the coming of snowfall confirmed the fact. The setting of the valley had always taken his breath away, especially inthe winter, when the peaks that rimmed their home, wreathed in purpleish mist, took on caps of brilliant white snow; the trees all around dusted with white powder. "Aww!" Takuo exclaimed, imagining the snow piling up on top of itself, shining in the sunlight, until it was above his black-tipped ears. "Brrr!" He shivered at the thought, though his eyes were shining with laughter. "Yup!" He laughed, "It would be my own little ice cave! It would be all shiny, and snowy and stuff!" He paused, front paw in the air, reconsidering. "But then it might get a bit boring. And really, really cold." He flicked his ears, then grinned, adding on to the story. "Then I would have to dig myself out! Then I'd be so white from snow, it would look like the cold washed the color totally off, and it wouldn't come back until spring!" He shuddered, as if frozen at the thought. "Well, that doesn't sound very fun!" He shook himself, sending a few more flakes of snow spiraling into the air, then perked his ears as the Prime spoke once more. "Well that doesn't sound good! I don't think that would be very fun, not at all!" He grinned, then straightened himself up, trying to make himself appear taller, though he knew it wasn't working in the slightest. [/center]
The sun just up in the sky, a white body was already digging under the snow, evidently looking for something. Blossom had woken up before dawn, her usual ruitine making it so that she was already by the old oak, looking for some tasty buds. Unfortunately, as she had expected, there were none. Her eyes dulled as she sighed, knowing that there wouldn't be any for the months to come. Winter, the horrible, cold season that brought hunger was finally upon them. When she had been with Grand's nomad herd, many died that year during the season, and all she could do was hope the same didn't happen this year.
As she gave up on her quest to find her favorite meal, Blossom turned up to were Devi slept, knowing he worried for his does. Leaving Sam and joining Devi had been the best thing she could have hoped for, and as she had hoped, she was expecting. She would possibly one of the last in the season to give birth, but that was the least of her worries.
Gray coat covered in the horrible white powder that covered the ground, Sam was clumsily taking steps around his does. After Blossom had left him, he had made sure he took care of his does. He had been furious to see Devarsi with her, even felt betrayed, but the look on Blossom's face when he had challenged Devi's judgment left him to understand that the one who had done the most wrong was him.
These thoughts, heavy in his mind, left him the second that T passed around, happily running around. "Hey there T!" he boomed back, loud as ever, not caring if half the herd was still asleep. "Careful you don't fall into some snow covered ditch, ya hear!" he called as the goennec kept on running, and his face light up to a beaming smile, unable to contain his own energy. He reared and started prancing around his does, wanting to let them know he would go hunting, but fearing waking them up.
Kila awoke with a start, standing up quickly. A smile crossed her face as she realized that it was only Sam talking to T. Shaking the fluffy snow from her fur, she smiled at Sam’s energy. “Morning,” Kila said; playfully using her nose to throw snow at him. Her belly was little more than its normal size, but she knew that soon it would be very large; and that wasn’t a time she was longing for. Kila had never had a kid before, and though she was less worried than she had been earlier, she was still worried.
Kapira, who had been awake for quite some time; walked back toward to herd. She wanted to talk to someone, but didn't want to bother the pregnant does or the rams. She knew Kila or Blossom wouldn't mind talking to her; but Kapi didn't want to cause them to do something they didn't really want to do. Instead, she stopped at the fringe of the clearing; studying the herd.
Alaska looked at Kaze, laughing as he tiredly denied his sleepiness. "I'm doing well. But I am a bit hungry. Although if you have something else in mind, I can wait a bit to hunt," the doe replied to Kaze. Scanning the valley with crystal-clear eyes, the doe noticed a dark shape at the edge of the herd. She wondered briefly who it was, but decided against saying anything. She would wait until the rime-grey ram had decided what to say.
Threonine blinked open his eyes slowly, a bit of powdery white snow falling from from his head. He sneezed and lifted his head, shaking off the rest of the stuff. *Snow* His dark eyes shone ever so slightly with a mostly hidden kind of joy. For a moment he nearly forgot where he was, and that he was no longer a kid. Oh how he wanted to jump about and smash shapes into the snow! The Prince stood up and surveyed the landscape for a moment, his dream world dying before it had a chance to fully take root in his mind. A small sigh escaped his mouth, hissing through the little gap between his teeth. He didn't really miss his old home that much, but he had loved the cold rocky landscape, and even his parents, though they were even more emotionless than he. This was home now though, this was where freedom lay, where the Goennecs he really cared about thrived. He wouldn't trade it for anything, even a chance to live amongst the mountains again. *I belong here.* Threo thought, his confidence and pride shoving away other feelings. *I have a duty, and I will gladly give my life to fulfill it.* A grin spread across his face and he seemed suddenly to remember what it was he was to do this morning. Food. Emma and Melia needed to eat now more than ever. Neither doe had complained so far, but he hadn't been awake long enough to hear any complaints anyway. It was probably better to go get something now, than wait until they did, though he wondered secretly if either would. Not waiting to see if they were awake yet, he trotted off, his paws making no sound against the soft snow, while his back hooves softly spoke with a "clip clop, clip clop" as they proudly hit the ground. Hunt and forage for the does first, then preform normal duties. It was already shaping up to be a normal day, busy as usual, the way he liked it best. "Clip clop, clip clop, off to hunt, off to forage, clip clop, clip clop."
The strange, green, blue, yellow, and purple fur of none other than Guru appeared from the spot where he had been sleeping. The elder trotted happily about, glad for the end of the Siv. He was a large ram, and had once been sleek and well muscled as well, though never very fierce. Now his fur was slightly duller, his horns a bit worn. As he neared the spot where he'd hidden a few roots to store for winter; a trick he'd learned from experiance that came in handy in some of the harsher winters he'd lived through, he spotted a doe standing about, surveying the herd. "Hello there." He greated cheerfully, coming up behind Kapira and swerving to the side just before coming into range of a kick. Though he had been careful to announce himself, and doubted the doe would kick him anyway, it was always best to be careful. Winter was no time to take a kick to the chest or throat.
Time Skip! Yay! c:
Nixx shivered a bit despite the fact he had a thick coat protecting him from the harsh winds. He was curled against Milky Way, trying to warm her shivering body up. He felt the cool snowflakes drop on his warm pelt, melting them, and making him damp and cold, which didn't help any. They would be snuggled in the warmth of a small den they had found a bit after the Siv had ended, but after they came back from hunting, snow had caved into the entrance. They were devastated. They wanted to find shelter, but figured it would be too risky to go out alone into the forest or try to go across the frozen river that was very thin. He shifted a bit, hoping not to disturb Milky Way any, just trying to get a bit comfortable, so maybe he could get the least bit of sleep he couldn't get with the howling wind echoing off of his pointy ears.
Kapira spotted Blossom and Kila, and then went back to looking at everyone else. Startled by a voice behind her, she jumped up and turned; noticed a ram that she hadn’t seen before. “Hi,” she said with a smile; using her considerably improved social skills. Most of her old habits had been broken, but certainly not all of them.
She shook the newest snowflakes off her pelt; enjoying the way they flew around her, then blowing off with the others. She started getting lost in her thoughts of the first time she had experienced snow, but quickly stopped herself. She had recently learned not to daydream when talking to another Goennec, but for Kapira it was very hard.
Hannie's head rose from where it had been resting on her front hooves drowsily; noise from the others had woken her up. She felt a few powdery bits of snow hit her nose -a bit of the snow meant for Sam- and she sneezed, getting to her feet. "Good morning," she told her two best friends, her voice managing to sound both energetic and tired. She shuffled her feet a little in the snow; it made her feel like a little kid again.
~~~
Malyaka sat calmly under a tree, staring down at the banks of snow surrounding her four paws. She was still decidedly unsure whether she liked the snow... It was decent for drawing in, but on the other hand it was very cold. Her long mane kept her fairly warm, and her long tail was able to successfully wrap around herself and cover her paws. She watched the small groups of goeys -individual harems -awaken and go about their morning duties, a somewhat vacant expression clouding her face. Deciding to wait to find someone to talk to until mostly everyone was fairly awake, Mal settled her gaze back down to the snow piled in front of her and started drawing random patterns.

The auburn doe lay sprawled on the ground, her eyes tightly shut as she slept. Her breathing was steady, and though it wasnt too noticeable, her stomach was already beggining to grow with the passing days. A snowflake landed on her nose, and Garnet awoke with a start. Her head shot up, and her eyes widened in confusion before she saw the small flakes of white snow beginning to blanket the ground. She got to her feet and smiled, peering around to try and spot Devi. When the Siv had ended, her hormones had slowly dissapated until she was back to 'normal'; Attention seeking, but not deceptive or as seductive and terrible as before. The thought of how she had been when the Siv had begun made her shudder, and she wished to never act like that. Finally, her brown eyes spotted the Prime through the Goennecs around him, and she darted towards him, as fast as possible. She reached him and grinned, sitting down. "Morning!" She exclaimed, her voice enthusiastic. Though Winter was upon them, she didn't seem to mind at all. In her previous winters, she had usually been bundled up and isolated from the snow and cold, fed constantly. She herself already knew that she would face new hardships this season than she ever had in her life. She dreaded the cold and starvation that could follow, but knew she had to push on through it, to reach spring and have her kid. Another snowflake landed on her face, falling onto Devi's face as Garnet shook it away. Though she would most likely become dark and horrible again soon into the season, for now her optimism and excitement about the snow around her was a nice thing, compared to the thoughts of the future and what could lay ahead.

Patience stood at the edge of the trees; her black stripes being the only things that helped her stand out from the snow. She flipped her mane happily; enjoying the feeling of snow landing and melting on her fur. She looked around herself; and soon spotted a dark female with a long mane sitting beneath the tree. Eager to find someone to talk to; Patience walked over to the female, flicking her tail as her red hooves kicked up snow in her face. "Hello." Patience blinked her scarlet eyes as she considered the female, wondering if she would turn out to be a friend or enemy.

Minnie: I could be reading the post wrong, but please remember that Goennecs are herd animals. They graze, meaning that they do not live in dens at any time in their lives, and the fact that they are mates does not make them live further away from the herd. Sam looked down as two of his does woke up, and he beamed down at Kila and Hannie. Native Dancer was still sleeping, which he let be, as he knew she was always fretful when she was awake. "Morning to the two of you. I wanted to let you know I will be hunting for the day, I want to make sure I can get enough food for you guys. Winter brings hunger, and I don't want that to be the case with you. When Native Dancer wakes up, please tell her why I left?" he asked kindly, his amber eyes concerned at the thought of the brown doe fretting when she saw him gone.Blue eyes looked up into the sky as the doe stood up. She had seen the thin layer of snow covering the ground, and she shook her coat unhappily. Snow. Snow meant that she wouldn't be able to take those long baths she was so fond of taking. That meant that the dirt that clung to her during winter would probably stay until spring. The thought of this devastated her beyond words. She sniffed, disgust clear in her face as she turned around and noticed that Talahasi and Lavantia were still asleep. How could they still be sleeping? Didn't Talahasi understand that she needed food? Meat was Dew's favorite thing to eat. Grazing brought her little joy as it lacked the rich taste of meat, and during winter, it was almost impossible to graze anyways. She considered waking Talahasi up, demanding her meal, but as she opened her mouth, she saw the most obnoxious doe in the whole herd passing by. The white doe with floral patters that always seemed to have something to say against her. Both does cared for each other dearly, but somehow, fighting was the only thing they ever did. In her wanting to avoid being seen by her, Dew lay back down on the snow, close to Lavantia, hoping to escape Blossom's view.

It wasn't so unusual for does to wander out of the harem once effectively carrying a kid. In fact, most had even expected it of Queen; and she had lived straight up to the reputation.
Even now, in the settling chill of winter, she remained to the side of the herd. She wasn't honestly alone, she did have her faithful followers after all, but no does were anywhere in her company. The bucks that most considered her... 'friends', or at least her servants, reclined in the snow behind her. Most of the alabaster males could barely be seen against the glint of the sunlight reflecting on the surface of the ground, except for the male that was hers alone.
Alabaster lifted his slender head from a swell of snow he had shaped into a hill and grinned at Queen. In recent months he had grown a bit more bold in his relationship with the dominant doe. "Do you see the Prime down there?" He questioned, and she glanced back at his inquiry with a reflection of pooling black eyes.
A slight shrug lifted her shoulders. "Somewhat." Her reply was quiet, muted almost from what her tone usually was, and she folded her legs beneath her and settled down against the ground.
Behind her, Omni blinked and shook the thin layer of weather that had collected across his shoulders and rose to a stand, lifting and flaring his wings to rid them of the cumbersome weight. "I'm gonna go find Rannoch." He commented with an adorable smile at Queen, who nodded but didn't respond. He took it was an agreement and sprinted down into the valley most of the herd was located in, searching from the prominent splash of brown against the white.
