Penny murmured quietly, ears flicking. The statement seemed true, for it was obvious to see that Claire enjoyed the company of Flip a bit more. Of course, Flip seemed calm, and in control. Penny was nervous and scared, perhaps more scared then Claire, since it now seemed that the elder was relaxed with Flip beside her. Walking on, Penny just hoped that they'd get to their new home soon. If they could even call it home. [/ul]

"Excellent." Threonine nodded in approval, his gaze shifting almost constantly around the herd. Now was a dangerous time, for as soon as the herd began to move they would be most uncertain. However, they were fortunate to live in such large numbers. Predators would not dare to attack the in the daylight, and someone was bound to notice any stragglers.
He flicked his tail, a signal that he was about to move, and that Jay was welcome to come. "Let me know if you see anyone who seems lost, or unaccompanied."
Felix let out a little sigh of relief, almost inaudible, that Lady didn't seem particularly insulted. He really didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable, so he took advantage of the issue at hand. "So I have heard. But yes, that's right." He chuckled. That was always the thing his father had liked most about him. It was only a shame he couldn't think up poetry, not even the sappy kind. "I think so too. She's really an amazing doe, raising all those kids without the aid of sight." He mumbled thoughtfully, realizing suddenly how many siblings he had, right within the herd. He had never been very close to any of them. Not even Syri, really. Felix nuzzled Lady fondly, glad that he had her there with him on the journey. "I believe the last time I saw her, she was with Flip. Perhaps not anymore, but he might know where she is now."
"It's inspiring." Subira laughed lightly, and felt herself subconsciously begin to pick up her feet more. She was no longer one of the youngest does, but there was still a good amount of life left in her. She had begun to feel much more confident, even though this journey they were now embarking on was surely not going to be the most laid back of trips. Moving never was. But she had traveled before, and had confidence that the soldiers would do a good job in keeping them all safe.
Playfully, the little brown doe nudged Kaze's shoulder with her head and strode past him with high, enthusiastic steps.
"Hmph." Norman bent his head down and shook his long furred mane, as if trying to shake off some unpleasant thoughts. Virgil let out a snort of warning, but he promptly ignored it.
"Sometimes I think these class divisions are like to make me ill. When I was a soldier it felt as if there were no does I could not have. But now that I am called 'peasant' too, they won't so much as look my way. I am not stupid, or ill. Nor are you, from what I can tell. Just because we have no right to participate in this Siv..."
He seethed, almost mumbling to himself more than anything. Had it not been for all the herd surrounding him, he would have likely taken his frustration out on the nearest tree. Norman was not normally an unpleasant fellow, but his temper seemed to flare at random some times, and it made him want to wreak havoc so that he would not suffer it alone.
"The... Cold?" He blinked, almost missing the rest of what Alec had said. That was all the distraction it took for him to calm down again, and the anger seemed to leak out and take its leave of absence. He glanced up at the sky, reminded of the looming mass. "I do hope so. I must admit I would prefer the cold to this... Smoke thing."

Lavantia looked at Rafiki and nodded, "when I gather my friends we will join you on this journey. But for now I must go." She turned and shuffled towards Sunrise, Fawn following sheepishly behind her. Thought she was a yearling she was terribly shy, Lanvantia knew she would have to grow out of this soon. Trotting over to Sunrise she nuddged her. "Are you ok?" she said with concern, as Sunrise appeared to be in shock.
"I'm ok Tia, it just i grew up in this meadow, with you and Talahasi, I really dont want to leave but now I guess theres not much of a choice." she explained. "I may not know what fire is but I know this is going to change everything."
Fawn looked at Sunrise, "I guess but I will follow mother no matter what."
Tohru trotted up to them curiously, " May I travel with y'all I cant seem to find father." She asked hoping she could.
Lavantia smiled at her, " Sure you can, we will be joining Rafiki and her friend I believe. We should probally go find them."
Talahasi trotted allong the meadow until he spotted a pretty doe. She appeared to be jittery and silent but she atracted his attention anyway. He trotted over wanting to greet her.

Jay smiled, and looked around shifting her attention to the herd. So this is what its like to be the prince/prime. Narrowing her eyes, she saw Claire but she appeared to be having help. She hoped the doe would be okay, knowing she was both deaf and blind. Looking around she didn't see any stranglers other than Liwa but the doe was coming up closely into the herd. She knew that the doe wouldn't let herself be forgotten.
Seeing his signal, Jay swapped her attention to him and got ready to move herself and follow him. Her ears, swung around listening for any sound of someone being alone.
Lady smiled, Felix was respectable. She knew he didn't mean to ask her about her family, it didn't upset her really. It was a common question, she was used to it. "I don't think I'd ever be able to handle that" Lady replied, she didn't see Syri but she saw Flip. "Yes, he should know where she disappeared too" Lady walked towards Flip, hoping she wasn't busting in on anything. She tried to get off topic about her family, even though she didn't care about hers very much she didn't like family one bit.
She wasn't one to explain why.
Emora smiled, Fig was definitely a friend to her. She wasn't sure if she would consider him more-so or if she even wanted to. Emora was always looking for a good friend, but Rams seemed to provide so best. Smiling Emora skipped along, the breeze ruffled her fur, quickly she licked it to smooth some of the crazy parts before skipping and bucking around again, the air filled with memories. Emora felt like a kid again, and she missed those times but also loved the new times she was having now.
Liwa smiled, a ram saw her. He was interested, he seemed nice and was handsome himself. She was still unsure about who she was going to travel with. Cleaning her fur again, to make it nice and pretty she pushed herself through the other goennec's ignoring their annoyance and strode up to Fig. "Why hello there, handsome one" She said with a sneer, looking directly at Emora.

Rafiki hesitated as he walked towards Sparrow. She had been approahed by a male. He looked at her and she shrugged lightly with a smile. He nodded and walked off to find Rafe, the other male was his closest companion and he hoped the females wouldn't mind his company. He looked around flicking his ears lightly. Then something tapped him on the shoulder. "Hello Rafiki" said Rafe with a grin. His mostly dark fur was ruffled and Rafiki rolled his eyes "We have some travelling companions. So be good" said Rafiki lightly.
Sparrow looked up as the male approached. She had assured Rafiki she was ok but being cautious never hurt. She watched him for a moment before smiling lightly. "Hello" she said in a light musical voice. Her eyes glittered lightly as she waited for a response.

Kaze smiled warmly, laughter dancing in his vibrant, emerald green eyes. He dramatically flattened his ears in a faux upset expression, then grinned and pawed the air with a hoof, scrambling after her. Maybe the journey wouldn't be so bad after all. The herd was big, but strong and close-knit as well. They were together. They were a herd. And that was all that mattered.
T fought back a yawn, then gave himself a vigorous shake, causing his already-spiky ebony mane puff up into the air, like tiny mountain peaks. He perked his ears as Ander reassured Sihir that River Song was safe in the herd, then bounced after them, striking golden eyes shining. "How far do you think we're going?" Takuo asked, gazing up at the hillside stretching out before them.

Talahasi smiled at the doe, " Hello my name is Talahasi and what is yours lovley?" he asked. He looked at her trying not to make her nervous and smiled reasuringly. She was a buetiful doe and he really hpoed she would agree to join his harem. He knew though that would not happen if he frightened her.
Lavantia looked around for Rafiki, sunrise and fawn following behind her. Tohru was further behind but lavantia had a hunch that she would be traveling with them as well.

Sayle laughed nervously. "Well, actually, I mix colors. Uhm, I take leaves and berries and such and I just kind of... mix them? I've never really planned it out, but I love the colors they make. For example, fallen ripe juniper berries and the petals from those flowers that grow at the edge of the creek... what are they called again?"
"Do you mean the flowers which float on the water, with the flat, round leaves? Water lilies?"
He guessed, having seen the flowers many times. The tadpoles often stayed in the shade of the leaves on hot days.
Her eyes lit up instantly. "Oh yes! Those! Well, you see, the petals mixed with the juniper berries make a color which is similar to the edge of a sky as the sun disappears. It's dark and bright all at the same time, a purple color. It's so beautiful." She smiled, half closing her eyes. She could almost see the colors now. Finding new sources of color when they finally found refuge would be her first concern.
Coo had been meaning to listen intently, but he found himself staring off as she spoke, her words painting such vivid pictures themselves. "I'd love to see the colors sometime. They sound nice." Smiling, he ducked his head a bit in respect. He quickened his pace as well, noticing that they had fallen a bit behind while she was talking; accidentally slowing their pace as she spoke. "We should probably move a bit faster to keep up with the herd."

Rafiki & Rafe "You know he will" said a soft voice behind Rafiki as Dune walked up to them smiling lightly. Rafe smiled looking sheepish nuzzling her lightly. She flicked her head at him and looked up at Rafiki. "I hear you found us some others to travel with. This could be interesting" she said lightly. "They are over here" said Rafiki with a nod. The three Goennecs walked towards the group Lavantia was with. Sparrow Sparrow looked hesitant and watched him for a few moments before replying. "Sparrow not lovely, thank you" she said finally eyes narrowed slightly. She took a shaky step back. This male was being to cocky, to full of himself and she was wary of that. She let out a soft noise, one that clearly said watch your step.

A massive dark head scanned the horizon as proud, tan horns gleamed in the bright sun as it shone its brightest before sunset, giving the dark ram and his much companion a couple more hours of traveling before night settled upon them. It had been far too long since this rather mismatched duo had met other goennecs, and the dark ram was beginning to worry that they wouldn't survive much longer if they kept on like this. They had just fled from a temporary refuge they had found with a herd on the mountains to the south, but the strangeness of that herd with their social standards was much too odd for either of the wandering goennecs to withstand for long. The fire had only worsened their departure as they had rushed through the forest and taken a detour, hoping to flee the fire by heading towards the mountains to the north instead. A groan behind the dark ram made him turn around, only to see his companion collapse on the floor, his once vibrant white mane now dull and matted with dirt.
"Get up, Dinali. We have no time to waste. You know the day is coming to an end, we must move while we still can," the dark ram said in a harsh, authoritative voice.
A groan of complaint escaped Dinali as he looked up at the dark ram, but he dared not go against the Prince's judgement. Getting up, Dinali felt his aching muscles burn and could almost hear them screaming profanities at him as he proceeded to following his companion once more.
"Do you think we will find another herd soon, Prince?" he the dark ram, voicing out the other's concerns.
Adonis narrowed his eyes, unsure of how to answer to this as he kept moving forward, his mouth open as he tried to gather any scents of prey. The smell that met his taste buds was much different to prey, however. Goennecs. Lots of goennecs seemed to be on the move. The faint, fresh smell of the plains still clung to them, suggesting they had been at the lower lands beyond the forest that surrounded the base of the mountains just a few days earlier. Hope flared in his heart as he reared, strength suddenly encompassing his very soul. Turning to Dinali, the Prince of the fallen nomad herd gave a pleased, encouraging snort.
"Oh I think it will be very soon indeed. Let's go, if we hurry we may just have a secure shelter come nightfall."

Once they were off, the dark ram didn't pay much attention to young ones and didn't see the weird look on Ander's face. All his attention was on the white doe, graceful and delicate. Soon, she would be his to take. But first, they had to reach safer grounds, up North. Finlay didn't enjoy the idea. He never liked changes, and the disorder brought by it. It would not be an easy journey, with such a large herd on the move, they were bound to gather unwanted attention from predators. It wasn't said that they would find enough food for everyone, either. They would get rid of the weak elements, that was for sure, maybe for the best. Time would tell. Realizing he was lost deep in thoughts yet again, he shook his mane and looked at the doe with a gentle smile.
“Have you ever been up North, Blossom? I heard you weren't born in this herd.”
Ashe smirked at the ram. This journey seemed a much brighter prospect with Sam as company. Already, she enjoyed his grin and odd way of speaking. He was attractive too, but she quickly dismissed it the thought as her hormone kicking in. Plus, thinking about it would make the whole situation awkward. Still, he was a fine prospect. She shook her head to stop thinking about it, as she would have shaken dirt off her fur. They quickly joined those who had already started moving, and they slowed down their pace a bit.
“So, Sam, were you born in this herd? There is just so many Goennecs from the outside, I've never experienced that before!”
Alec let out a soft laugh.
“Who wouldn't?” he said, giving a look at the moving herd behind them. “I think we should start moving, we don't want to be left behind, do we?”
As he was finishing his sentence, the young ram start trotting towards the North, Norman and Virgil soon following him. He walked a few moments in silence, lost in thoughts.
“How do you think it will be, there, apart from the cold?” he suddenly asked to his herdmates.
((Such a lousy answer >.>))

((For those other than Tammanae -because she's the only one who knows right now, haha -Hannie and Zup are joining Sam's little group, and Malyaka is joining Dews.))
Hannie trailed along with her small group, turning an ear absently to pay attention to the conversation between the other Goennecs. Half of her attention was occupied with keeping track of Zup, who didn't understand quite enough to know why they were having to move but was instead thrilled by the trip, bounding around with near endless energy and investigating every new thing he came across. He would occasionally vanish from sight, burrowing into the brush nearby; as long as she could hear the rustling leaves and her son's excited giggling, she wasn't concerned. Otherwise, he was simply prancing around near the group. Hannie knew his energy was going to have to diminish eventually -she hoped it was when they stopped to rest, or else he would likely start complaining until they did. ~~~~~ Mal's travels were similar to Zup's, although considerably less energetic and frantic. She ambled along behind the group, keeping close enough that she wouldn't become separated from them but still occasionally pausing to investigate an interesting plant or insect she discovered. She wasn't very familiar with those who she was travelling with, other than general knowledge from being in the same herd as them, and she was uninterested in attempting to join any conversation. Mal was content with simply following along quietly.

Having almost forgotten what it felt like to move on such a constant basis, living to find shelter for the herd, Blossom's muscles ached with the effort she had placed in the past few days of travel. Her mind kept wandering, wishing they would arrive to their destination soon, worried about her kids. Her worry seemed to be quite needless so far, however, as Ander and Sihir spent most of their time exploring every corner they could get into, slipping in and out of sight as they played games and learned of this new, unfamiliar territory. Thanks to Finlay, her mind gained rest from time to time, being distracted by the dark ram as he made conversation with her, making her enjoy the trip as she used to back when she lived with the nomad herd. Coincidentally, her mind had been wandering once more when she heard Finlay's voice, his question breaking her trail of thought.
"Up north? No, I do not think so. Not to these mountains, anyways. My old herd traveled a lot, but we mostly kept to flatter lands," Blossom responded, a smile crossing her delicate features as she answered.
Much like Zuppae, Sam was filled with boundless energy, making the older ram seem more and more like a kid as the days crossed by, eagerly following his offspring from the previous year with his eyes, an unmistakably proud puff in his chest whenever he did so. Before heading off for the journey, Sam had gratefully bumped with Hannie, who seemed to have been searching for a group of her own. Sam had happily offered to accompany her along with Ashe, fond of he scarlet horned female. This time, however, he made certain to not ignore Ashe like he had Blossom during the last Siv, something he had come to deeply regret despite Blossom's constant forgiveness whenever he mentioned it. For now, he walked happily next to Ashe as Hannie kept an eye out for Zuppae, making small talk while he kept pressing onwards, a smile on his face as he did so.
"Yeh I was. Born righ' at the valley durin' the same siv as Devarsi. We used ter get into all kinds of mischief an' trouble. We wouldda probably given T a run fer his tail too," he responded in his usual booming voice, his eyes glinting with laughter as cherished memories crossed his mind.

Claire's surroundings were changing a bit too much for her liking. It was one thing to go for a strange little walk with the rest of the herd, but completely different to go this far. She didn't recognize the scents around her other than those of the others, and that was very, very concerning. It had taken her long enough to learn her way around the herd's territory, surely they weren't completely leaving. Seems like it, though. The golden doe turned her head away from the soft shoulder beside her, deaf ears flattening as she took in a few more breaths. This is the wrong way. Home is back there. The brush of the ram's tail was grounding, however, and Claire turned back, whining softly as burried her nose back in the safety of the ram's shoulder, shrinking further against his side. Don't you understand? There's no need to go this far. I don't want to leave.

T fought back a yawn, his paws dragging slightly on the rough ground, breathing heavily as he followed Sam up the steep slope, taking in the lush scents of the mountain. The young ram hadn't been able to sleep well the previous two nights due to pure excitement and adrenaline, but that didn't show. He was still just as bubbly and energetic as always, eager to explore their new surroundings. He had been tagging along with Sam or Kaze, bounding along excitedly, then scrambling back to greet Ander and Sihir, veer off to scramble up on fallen logs or splash through crisp mountain streams, then run to catch up with the herd, follow Devarsi, trying to mirror the ram's strength and confidence, then bounce through and talk to whoever might be willing to converse with him. He perked his ears as he heard his name, then scrambled up on a small, smooth slab of stone protruding from the earth and grinned. "Nuhuh!" he laughed, pawing the air and lowering his head playfully. Kaze's scrambled up on a small boulder for a moment, panting in the cool air, vibrant emerald eyes shining as he scanned all around. Already the valley that had been their home for so long was just a small blur in the distance, and he didn't know where they were going, but he didn't mind. He had always loved to explore, and the journey was a new adventure. He allowed him to gaze at the striking landscape just a moment longer, then scrambled down to rejoin the herd, then paused, perking his ears. A small patch of lush clover and dandelions was nestled at the base of his perch, trembling gently in the breeze. He grinned and grabbed a mouthful, then bounded forward to join the herd, then perked his ears and dipped his head shyly in greeting as he spotted Subira, Koal, and Meadowlark, the bundle held carefully between his teeth.

Post by Nawee on Jun 20, 2012 17:57:10 GMT -5
“I would have to, climbing mountains isn't exactly my thing.” he chuckled softly. “I must admit, I feared the journey, but it's going far more smoother than I thought it would. Unlike you, I never went far from our clearing and its hills.”
Though he wasn't as scared has he told, the idea of leaving his birthplace did make him a bit nervous. It was going rather well until now, though. Watching the twins wasn't as tiresome as he thought it would be, but honestly they did as they please, leaving the side of their mother to reappear some time later. They were never off too far from the moving herd. His muscles pained him, he was not used to walking for so long, but the company of the coveted doe made him forget about the ache.
More often than not, they would walk in silence, lost in thoughts or simply trying to ignore the weariness. It suited the ram, it left him plenty of time to think about how to approach Blossom about the Siv. Never had he been so unsure about his skills as sweet talker. But she was no common ewe. Maybe when they finally settled somewhere safe. Now, she seemed to worried to even think about it.
“We can be far from our new home, now. We've been walking for a few days already, and we have a good pace.”
Soon after they departed, the duo was joined by Hannie and her kid Zuppae. She was ashamed to think that she had been jealous at first, when she realized that the doe had been in the ram's harem last year. She quickly dismissed the feeling when she started speaking with the scarlet doe, and even enjoyed her company. She liked being with Sam of course, but there is things she felt more comfortable speaking about with another female. Adding to their group Zuppae and Takuo, they made quite a lively bunch.
It was nice to have the two kids, or should she says three, around. Their endless energy was rubbing off on her, and soon enough she felt restless, eager to join them in their games. She was barely out of childhood herself, but that would probably change when she would have her first kid. The journey had made her forget about the Siv, and she didn't mind that much. Everything would happen in due time, that was a certainty.
She grinned at Sam's words.
“I was quite the troublemaker myself. Or rather, trouble like to find me.” she answered, a melancolic smile crossing her face. Being friends with Alec didn't help about that, she thought. “Even the rams were afraid of me!” she then added, puffing her chest proudly. She then procceed to show her skills by pretending to fight another Goennec. “See? No one messes with me!”

Sam couldn't help but smirk as he heard Takuo's playful protests and challenging poses. He opened his mouth to respond, but was cut short by Ashe's own answer. As he saw the female fighting an invisible enemy in front of her, a booming laugh escaped Sam like rumbling thunder. There was no denying how much he denied the company he had acquired during the trip, and part of him was almost glad they had to move out of their old territory as it had forced them to group up and become closer to their herd mates. Cocking his head playfully, Sam reared excitedly, the other's playful conversation making him restless and joyous, although not much tended to be needed for this to occur when it came to Sam.
"Well, the way I see it, the more offa troublemaker yer are, the better. Life ain't half as fun when yer livin' on the cautious side, now is it?" he stated, giving her an approving wink before looking at Hannie and Takuo to back him up on his statement.
A sympathetic look crossed Blossom at Finlay's words. Ever since she had run away from her human home to join the wild nomad herd, she had been on the move, settling only when she reached Devarsi's herd. While she could not imagine having never traveled, she could relate to the dark ram's unease at leaving their older territory. His last words, however, had been what had struck her the most. The nomad herd she had joined had been traveling in search of a new home for years before Blossom had met up with them, or at least so had the Prime of the herd told her. After she had joined, they had still been searching, unable to find a place to call home. Her journey with them had ultimately been ended by her having been separated from them and brought to Devarsi's herd by Sam only a couple of years prior.
What if Devarsi's herd had the same luck? What if they could never find a place to settle? Her last herd had been small, much smaller than Devarsi's. This had been due to the hardships of constant travel, making goennecs drift off to the eternal sleep much sooner than the elders of this herd, especially among the younger, weaker kids of the herd. These thoughts had been what had been plaguing Blossom's mind since the beginning of the journey, nagging at her at the back of her mind. But how could she bring these thoughts up with Finlay, or with any goennec for that matter? It would bring only unease to their minds at well.
"You are right. It shouldn't be long now," Blossom answered with a smile, settling for agreeing with Finlay to keep both his spirits as well as hers positive for what would hopefully be their final few days of travel before they found their new home.

"I'm sorry Sparrow, that was a bit forward of me." He said in what he hoped was a normal voice. "Who will you be traveling with on our journey?" he said curiously.
Lavantia saw rafe and smiled, meeting up with them. "This is Sunrise," she pointed to the blue and yellow female, " and Tohru." she said pointing the the other female. "I believe you've met fawn already?"

First at a leisurely walk, then a spirited trot, Felix followed Lady. One and two and one and two. He liked to move in synchronized motions, front left and back right feet up, front right and back left feet down. Swap it up, continue pattern. Step, and repeat. He could do it for hours, locked in a silent competition with himself to see, just to see, how long he could keep it up.
Subira continued to walk with the rest of the herd, keeping up a pace and slowing only when they did. Or her little group, if that came to a halt. She was plenty content to sit and graze alongside Koal and Meadowlark. It would have been easy to strike up a conversation, but enjoying the relative quiet and feeling the air gradually become clearer, less choked with that foul smell, was pretty nice. After a moment of this, she smelled something, and lifted her eyes from the ground to see Kaze come bounding back towards them with something in his mouth. Her ears pricked, then twitched in curiosity, and lifted her head very slightly. "Are those..." She trailed off, and blinked curiously instead.
Norman let out a snort, but followed. He didn't really want to leave home territory, but at this point it was better than staying. Soon he could barely even see the place where he had so often slept, in the grassy depression he called his nest. Virgil came too, staying close enough to always have Norman within sight. But it didn't take long for him to strike up other company. Stargazer took up a space next to Virgil, followed by Echo and Milky Way.
Hmph. Norman looked away, swishing his long, flowing tail from side to side. But at Alec's question, he had to think. "Besides cold? I don't think there will be as much grass, or as much cover. We'll have to go somewhere there are less trees, I'd imagine. But I've never really been up into the mountains. Maybe it's nice, with fewer predators and lots of flowing streams." He mumbled semi-thoughtfully. "What about you? I know you've traveled from some place."
