"Hmm" Devi nodded in agreement to the mud colored ram. "It is quite lovely. Unfortunately, because it's not very large and sits in what is essentially a large hole, it's not really suitable for long-term sustenance of any decently-sized herd. If there's no one here now, I highly doubt there will be anyone expecting to come home to it."
The black ram paused, doing the math in his head.
"With how many of us there are, we'll probably have to move on in less than a full moon cycle. By then, we'll have eaten away most of the grass and we'll want to leave it before we completely destroy it, so we can stop by again on the way back." He turned to the other ram, smiling. "Luckily, I know of a better place not too much farther, where we can live happily until we're ready to return home, and with a few more mouths to feed!"
Now that he mentioned it, he could definitely feel his blood surging with the hormones of the siv. No doubt some males will have started gathering harems already, though he he not announced the official start of the season. Granted, he should have made it days ago. 'Tomorrow.' He thought to himself 'Tomorrow, I'll announce the start of siv. Here will be as good a place as any to launch the frenzy'

[B, if you like, I think we could have it so that Keete and Sec have traveled a bit together. I can imagine that Keete would enjoy his company, so they could be sort-of well acquainted? And I understand, I was wondering where we were going to go with that after the TS. XD]
Kin stepped from the worn ground - packed down from hooves and paws alike - onto the soft, damp grasses in the little valley. The valley was nothing in comparison to their previous home, it lacked size and comfort that the well-worn atmosphere had given, but it was greatly appreciated nonetheless.
A sigh escaped her parted lips as the feel of the cool grasses permeated her dry, cracked pawpads. Suddenly overcome with a childlike sense of giddiness, Kin dashed from her standstill to leap into the cool air, landing in a tumble of legs as she rolled on the ground. The grass, crushed beneath her, smelled of heaven, so sweet and clean.
She lay there beneath the bright sky, an idiotically large grin on her face and her eyes shut tight, just breathing it in.

Fig-
Surprised at Emoras words and icy tone Fig flicked his ears back and looked sideways at the doe. Guilt flickered in his chest as he looked between the two does, clearly Emora wasn't happy with their new companion and he wondered why briefly. Watching as Emora walked away he frowned slightly hoping she would be alright but unsure if he should go after her. The other doe recaptured his attention by introducing herself, offering her a warm smile he flicked his tail happily 'Well hello Liwa, may I say your name is very pretty. Much like yourself' he grinned playfully down at her taking a step forward at her next question. Nodding softly he regarded the doe for a moment 'of course, let me walk you into our new home' with a dip of his head he stepped up besides her and walked confidently forwards, following the members of the herd who had already descended the grassy slope.
Flip- Listening carefully to Penny's words Flip gave a sage nod, reassured now that he hadn't ignored her too much in his quest to look after Clare. The two does beside him moved forwards easily, all keeping pace together. Flip was pleased to hear the primes words at that time, his legs were starting to feel slightly sore and he was in need to a drink and a rest. However his first duty was too Clare and Penny, he would male sure they were settled first.
Clare stopped beside him as Penny halted het step got a moment, jolted from his thoughts he noticed that he appeared to have drifted away from Clare's side slightly. Guilt flared and he returned to he side, glancing at Penny as she murmured encouragement to the doe. 'Not long now and we will be in our new home' he said softly and couldn't help an excited grin towards Penny. Letting his shoulder brush Clare softly he looked forwards and kept in step with the girls.

Reaching the spring, Dallas slowed from her prance to just a bouncy walk. Wagging her tail vigorously in delight, she hopped straight into the water, much as she had jumped down the cliff moments ago. It was cool water, chilling almost, but it'd been so long since she'd had a proper splash in water deeper than a rain puddle. It felt wonderful regardless of the cold of it.
Once she was satisfied with her level of cleanliness, which included several rolls followed by furious snorting to get the water out of her nose, she climbed out and shook herself (mostly) dry, leaving her mane a frizzled mess. It felt good to finally be thoroughly clean and she grinned widely, her snubbed nose wrinkling cutely.
Now to find something fun to do. She hadn't had much more opportunity for fun than she had for getting clean on the journey so far and this needed fixing too. Hardly a few steps away, she noticed a golden, spotted doe, who Dallas realized she hardly knew.
Hopping over to her, Dallas attempted a greeting in a nasally, slightly incoherent sort of way, hinting at her lack of ability to hear what a 'hello is supposed to sound like.
"Ellyo!"
She neither noticed, nor cared that her greetings weren't quite 'normal'. Rather, she beamed happily at this new friend, certain she'd soon have a new best friend.

-Doe-
The new landscape surrounding the golden, spotted doe made her fur stand on end as she looked from one side to the other nervously, forcing herself to not look half as uncomfortable as she felt. The mountains had been the territory of her old herd, after all, and while these were far from being the same mountains, the feeling of unease remained. She had been so eager to run away from them, only to have to run back to them. But survival dictated she must, and just like she had made it to Devarsi's herd in one piece, she would reach their new location. This temporary watering hole and resting spot was a nice place, regardless, and Doe strived to make the most out of it.
Having been travelling with Moss' group, which included more goennecs than she was used to, she was more than eager to indulge Moss as he started rambling at her to go for a drink of water while he coaxed the much slower and spacier Northern Lights to do so. At the edge of the pool, the purple eyed female dipped her head and took a drink, the cold water both a welcome to her parched throat as well as a surprise that made her flinch, not expecting the water to be quite so cold in such a warm location. Snorting as she shook her head, lifting it once she had had her fill, Doe's ears perked up attentively as she heard a nasally voice from beside her saying an almost incoherent 'hello'. This making Doe look to her side, she saw that while she had been taking her drink, a white doe with black speckles had run over to her and was evidently intent on making conversation, a beaming look of glee on her snubbed face.
Unease taking over her, Doe looked around, hoping to find, for once, other goennecs around her that might be the ones this white doe greeted, but to her dismay she realized she was quite alone. Turning her head back to the still smiling female, Doe attempted a smile in return, which unfortunately did little more than make her look as though if she was suffering from stomach cramps. As she did this, her eyes scanned the white doe, and suddenly she realized that this wasn't a regular doe. Her head lacked horns, her nose was snubbed, and those ears of hers had one of the oddest shapes she had ever seen. Looking at her own hooves to avoid looking as though if she had been staring, she realized that the newcomer's paws were not exactly the norm either. A sinking feeling overcame her as she realized this doe was more than likely to be an affected, and as she realized this, a sadness like she had not known in a very long time overcame her, the look on her face drastically changing from the forced smile to a far off, sorrowful look.

Moses chuckled. Being his age, he knew he could survive on very little without problem, and it amused him that the younger generations hadn't learned such tricks yet. Though he did understand why they would need the extra energy - especially with the weather turning into that familiar season he'd grown to cherish. "Best let the rest of 'em understand that, don't want them to get too comfy. Then they won't want to leave. Adventure is fun, but afterwards, there's no better place than a comfy spot to rest your rump after a day's end. And then who would want to get back up?" Yawning and stretching, he felt his old bones creak and whine, reminding him that his adventuring days were in the past. "Though, I must say, this other place of yours sounds wonderfully tempting. I may not get this old body to run around like I used to, but the feeling of having a lot of space is still addicting."
Sec walked close to the other ram, watching each step out of the corner of his eye for signs of weakness or fatigue. Though they had trailed behind the pack, Sec could still hear the herd's hoofbeats, and had followed the trail of trampled leaves and twigs in hopes of rejoining the herd when it stopped or slowed enough for them to catch up.
He had to admit, Keete's inability to hear had, at first, made him feel awkward, as he had very little experience with the [living] disabled, and could not 'read' the other ram's emotional energies from the Living Plane. But after a while, he had become more and more comfortable, at times even using his whole body to keep his companion steady.

Suddenly confused by this new doe's transition from uncomfortable to sad, Dallas huffed and wagged her tail enthusiastically. Seeing that her focus seemed to be Dallas' paws, she wiggled her toes, emphasizing her funny middle toe, which was larger than normal as it was actually two toes fused into one, causing her paws to bear only three toes rather than four. She liked her funny toes, they made her giggle. Why didn't this doe like them too?
The doe's lack of positive response, drove Dallas to try speaking again. Still in her odd, nasally voice.
"Wants name?" she asked with effort. "Mine Winte Dallyas!" She beamed again.
Devarsi nodded.
"Yes, I'll address the herd as a whole about it once everyone is here and settled. Hopefully, the promise of more space will keep them ready to continue a bit farther."
Devi glanced behind them to see how much of the herd still had to make it's way into the shelter of the little Oasis. Still seemed like quite a few hadn't even reached the top of the climb up to it. Inevitably, he caught himself looking at the does in particular, inspecting each of them for their fitness. He would need to satisfy his need to begin the siv soon, or it'd start to effect his ability to lead them. His plan to announce the start tomorrow seemed so far away, however, announcing it today, along with the news that this was not to be a long-term home would likely be a little too much all at once. He'd need to control himself for just one more day.

FOR KESTRAL
~Rafiki & Rafe~ The two young males stuck together as they explored this new, if temporary site. The grazing looked good, they could enjoy themselves here for a bit. But in truth both males really just wanted to sink into the soft ground and relax for a bit, it had been almost impossible for the two restless rams to relax and they planned to take full advantage. Rafe settled down first with the sun catching the light on his odd, blue markings, his friend and traveling companion chuckled at him and sunk down beside him. "This is an odd place Rafe" murmured Rafiki. "Its nice" said Rafe in confusion and Rafiki shrugged. "Well yeah, its nice. But its still odd. Oddly small" he said softly. Claire's ears perked up when Penny nudged her shoulder, and she payed close attention as the other doe moved forward with ease. If her friend could manage this, surely she could too. Tentative, but willing to try again, the little doe extended a delicate paw slowly. She tapped the sloping ground a few times just to be sure that it was safe, and then inched herself forward hesitantly. Claire repeated the process again to catch up to Penny, and gave a pleased little bleat when she realized that she had found a way to conquer the 'horrible mountain.' She turned to bump playfully into Flip's shoulder with her green little horns, and then continued her proven strategy of tapping and inching down the slope, taking comfort in the fact that Penny was just in front of her.

[finally have access to a computer. I'll do some more detailed posts sometime in the futurewith the rest of my herd. In the meantime anyone can interact with Shard! ^^]
Shard;
The odd ram hit the ground with a soft "thud." Coordination had never really been his strong suit, and neither his claws nor hooves seemed willing to grip the surface. What started as a "small" hill quickly devolved into a flurry of scrambling paws and hooves, and a mouthful of dirt. Gypsy was waiting for him upon his landing. He could only glare up at his three-legged half sister, wondering how the hell even she managed to beat him. And he was quite sure he could see Astarot circling overhead. Goddess, what he wouldn't give to fly!
Oh well, at least he landed on grass, and he was pretty sure he didn't take anyone else down with him. With that minor victory, he set out to explore the new territory, slinking away before the doe could comment on his entrance.

Keete shuffled ahead, his paws trembling ever so slightly with fatigue as he attempted to follow the vibrations of the herd. His hoof caught at tree root, and when he steadied himself, he noticed a lack of the normal vibrations from the herd. Confusion had overtaken him, the herd was no longer moving at a steady pace, but, as a glance at the sky confirmed - it was no where near time for the herd to bed down. He glanced at his companion, the other male had been an asset to him the entire journey. Perhaps he knew something now. "Do you know why they've slowed down? The vibrations are different."

-Doe-
As the white doe wiggled her toes happily, a look of blissful glee on her face, Doe couldn't help but feel guilty at her own behavior towards her. This doe, whom had now identified herself as 'Winte Dallyas', was obviously happy and healthy despite her deformities, and here she lay, looking judgmental and rejecting. However, with the Siv so close by, and after the horrible death of her own affected child just a year before, this happy-go-lucky ewe was making Doe feel very self conscious. Would the same thing happen this year? Would she give birth to another affected?
She didn't have the answer to these questions, but from the look of 'Winte Dallyas', even if she did, she would not lose her kid, not this year. If 'Winte Dallyas' had been accepted into this herd along with other affected, surely her future kid would be safe as well. But would she really want another affected? A part of her didn't care, but another part, the part that had been brutally enforced in her other herd, feared it. After all, what good was a doe if not for breeding and ensuring the line of the rams? And if she really was tainted, then was there any use for her at all?
The part of her mind that feared the consequences shut down this trail of thought, making her focus once more on the doe in front of her. The nasally voice and strange manner of speaking suggested she was deaf, but this was no reason not to respond, if only Doe could muster up the words. Taking a deep, calming breath, Doe shut her eyes tight, finding it difficult to speak, something that was so against her nature, whenever Moss wasn't around. Finally, after a long, rather awkward silence she responded.
"I have no name... but you can call me Doe."

The golden doe's discomfort was not lost on Dallas, but, being convinced that some friendly interaction would cure it, she pushed aside any feelings towards it. Instead, she focused on what the doe had finally said. Being deaf, Dallas had to read lips and body language and she was confused by what she picked up. 'No name'? What did that mean? How could she have no name? Had she read wrong? Cocking her head to the side, her large, deformed ears flopping with it, she stared at her with a puzzled expression, mulling it over in her mind.
"No name, name Dyoe?" She asked, looking for clarification, cocking her head to the opposite side in question.

-Doe-
As Dallas asked for clarification on what Doe had just said, the golden ewe knew that her being deaf had nothing to do with the confusion. Many times since she had entered this strange herd she had been asked her name, mostly to her confusion. The first one who had seemed to be happy about this lack of name and accepted it without question had been the strange, green kid of Blossom's, Sihir, whom had ran towards her yelling the fact that she was a doe as though if she was happy she had learned to differentiate the two genders. Most, however, did not take to her lack of a name lightly, usually getting confused and in the odd moment angry, thinking she was doing nothing more than mocking them and rudely sidestepping a formal introduction. Dallas seemed to be taking it on good terms, however, seeming to only want to make sure she had properly grasped what Doe had just said, leaving Doe will little to do other than nod to clarify that Dallas had understood correctly.

Fawn's ears twitched happily when she saw Jay, the blue goey. She had been shy of the young blue goey and was wondering if she would be her friend. 'No time like the present she thought.' Turning to Tohru she let her know she was going to meet up with the other young female goey. She trotted over happily. "Hi, my name is fawn. I've seen you around and was wondring if you wanted to be my friend." she said figiting from nerves.
Tohru watched and giggled in amusement, fawn had alway been so shy and now was no exception. She knew that when fawn made friends though she might come out of her shell a little.

Still a little confused at the odd name, though satisfied that she'd understood, Dallas gave Doe a quick 'Ah!' of understanding and a toothy grin, her snub nose wrinkling again. She was quite pleased with herself for having had a proper conversation opening. Now that they'd gotten past the formalities, Dallas was eager to get on with the friend activities, but what to do? Maybe a walk would be fun! It'd be great to have a little tour of their new little space, especially with a new friend!
"Want walnk with me?" She asked brightly, wiggling happily on the spot. After having been on the move for so long, the stillness was making her eager to move around a bit.

-Doe-
As Dallas beamed a toothy grin once more, Doe couldn't help but feel another twinge of guilt at the sight of her. This ewe was obviously a friendly, kind goennec. Her being an affected not getting in the way slightly of her every day living, and for some reason, she seemed to really cherish those little things that made her so different to all others, the things that made her an affected. This behavior deeply touched Doe, and despite her lack of confidence in herself, she couldn't help but feel a little more upbeat about the journey and the future mating events of that year. Taking a step forward, some of the tension that constantly plagued her stance gone, Doe gave one of her very rare, sincere smiles at the white doe.
"Sure," she said in her usual short answer manner, knowing a walk would mean keeping herself entertained as well as quiet, something the golden ewe was much more familiar with than idle chit chat.

Flip-
A wide grin split the rams face as Clare butter his shoulder, her change of mood lifted his own spirits with it and he couldn't help a small happy chuckle. The hard part of the journey was at an end which gave Flip a great surge of happiness. The two does who had become treasured companions would soon be able to rest and settle into their new home. Flip couldn't lie, he was eager to explore the new lands they had arrived in. Touching his nose briefly to Clare's shoulder in a friendly muzzle he kept back slightly, leaving Penny to lead and staying slightly behind making sure they were ok as they walked. Turning to Penny Flip smiled a carefree and easy grin 'If I'm honest I'm a little excited about all this new territory' he said softly, a gleam in his eyes 'and I can't wait to get clean!' He laughed swishing his long grey tail.
